How to Drive Online

This interactive 25-hour online course fulfills requirements for the California learner’s permit and supplements driver education. The course:

  • Offers an engaging, research-based curriculum
  • May help improve decision-making behind the wheel and build lifelong safe driving habits 
  • Primary Members who purchase the course and are enrolled in automatic renewal may be eligible to add their 14-18 year old student as a new Associate Member for the remainder of their Membership term at no additional cost.*

The course satisfies the driver training portion of licensing requirements in California and Utah.

teenSMART is a proven driver education program designed to help teen drivers build lifelong safe driving habits.

The program is for teens who are licensed drivers and may or may not have AAA Auto Insurance.

teenSmart may help young drivers improve their decision-making abilities behind the wheel.

teenSmart is a flexible and convenient online and in-car program. Young drivers can use their computer to complete the course at their own pace.

The program was specially designed, based on behavioral research, to help teens develop safe driving skills. For example, the program helps teens learn to spot hazards on the road and about the potential dangers of peer pressure. The goal is to help teens improve their decision-making, which in turn helps reduce the likelihood of accidents.

RoadWise Driver Program

RoadWise is an online course and information resource intended for mature drivers who want to refine their driving skills and stay safe on the road.

The course is for mature AAA Members who want to refresh their driving skills from the comfort of home. RoadWise is also a great informational resource for the driver’s family.

RoadWise helps AAA Members refresh their driving knowledge and adjust for age-related changes like slower reflexes and weaker eyesight. It offers tips on comfort and safety while driving.

It is a convenient and flexible online program.

The program educates mature drivers about distractions, drowsiness, aggressive driving, and road rage. It also discusses how alcohol and medication can impact driving. Mature drivers learn how to optimize their driving with the goal of reducing risk to themselves, their passengers, and others on the road.

Discount varies by state and does not apply to all coverages. Discount will remain on the policy so long as the policy term effective date is within 3 years of course completion date.
