If your car runs on gas, motor oil keeps its engine humming. Oil lubricates engine parts, so they slide past one another, rather than rubbing, which can cause parts to overheat or wear down. Oil also keeps your engine clean, carrying any debris to the oil filter, and contains additives that stave off rust.
Synthetic oil blends contain both conventional oil and synthetic oil, as well as some additives. Synthetic oil is purer, lasts longer and offers better protection than conventional oil. A synthetic oil blend generally offers better performance for a slightly higher cost than conventional oil.
Full synthetic oil is 100 percent lab-made and contains no crude oil, which means it also contains no contaminants. Like other motor oils, it has additives to help improve your car’s performance. Cars with high-performing engines usually require full synthetic oil, although it may benefit many vehicles.
Recommendations vary by vehicle. Check your car’s manual and follow the manufacturer guidelines. Over time, motor oil breaks down and loses its ability to protect engine parts. If you haven't changed your oil in a while, visit our shop.
