Here's what to expect regarding waiting periods for Emergency Roadside Assistance (ERS) after joining or changing your AAA membership:
- New Members & Added Associates: A 48-hour waiting period generally applies for ERS after your payment is processed.
- Need Immediate Service? You can request roadside assistance right away by calling (800) 222-4357. A $75 fee applies to waive the standard 48-hour waiting period. (Note: This fee may be waived in certain safety-critical situations).
- Membership Upgrades (to Plus or Premier): There is a 10-day waiting period before the additional roadside benefits of your upgraded level (e.g., extended towing) become active. Your existing Classic-level benefits can still be used during this time.
- Other AAA Benefits: Non-ERS benefits like travel planning services, member discounts, and identity theft protection (if included) are typically available for you to use immediately after joining or upgrading.
