How do I use or troubleshoot the AAA TripTik Travel Planner?
Travel
The AAA TripTik Travel Planner is a powerful online tool for creating customized road trip maps and itineraries. Here are some common usage tips and troubleshooting steps:
Tips for Using the Planner:
- Creating Trips: Enter your start (A) and end (B) points. Add stops using the "+" symbol. Reorder stops by dragging them using the icon to the left of the address. Click "Start Trip" when your route is set.
- Saving/Accessing Trips: To save trips or access previously saved ones, sign into your AAA online account. Within the TripTik Planner interface, use the menu (often top left) and select "Saved Trips & Saved Places."
- Printing Your Trip: Click the printer icon usually found near the trip duration display. Select your preferences and click "Create Print Version." A PDF version will be generated for you to print.
- Sharing & More: Use the "Share" icon (often near the printer icon) to save the current trip, clear the map, download route information, or share a PDF of your trip via email.
Troubleshooting Printing Issues:
- Adobe Reader: Ensure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed and enabled in your browser to view and print PDF map sections. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader here.
- Firewalls: Some security software (like older Norton Firewall versions) might block the script needed for printing. Try temporarily disabling your firewall if the print dialog doesn't appear.
- Internet Explorer: Turn off "Compatibility View" in the Tools menu if you encounter issues.
- Firefox: Make sure you allow pop-ups specifically from the
ttp.aaa.com
site in your Firefox settings.
(Optional inclusion about physical materials): While TripTik focuses on digital and printable maps, you can find instructions for ordering physical TourBook Guides and maps by mail here.
