President’s Letter: A Vote for Our Future

At its core, AAA has always been a story of people helping people—a simple promise to be a reliable partner in your daily life and a trusted voice on the open road.

A century ago, that promise was kept by a vast federation of more than 1,000 independent automobile clubs all across the country. Decades of consolidation and a shared desire for unity have brought that number down to about 30 strong regional clubs today. Each step has allowed us to serve you better, combining our national strength while keeping our care deeply rooted in local communities.

Ten years ago, we took our own historic step forward by bringing three Western AAA clubs together into one unified family. By joining forces across Alaska, Arizona, Northern California, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming, we gained the scale necessary to deliver the exceptional service that has become synonymous with the AAA brand.

Since the merger, we have operated internally as AAA Mountain West Group, even though you may have continued to see us referred to as AAA Northern California, AAA Nevada, or AAA Utah, respectively. This year we are taking the final step to officially change our legal name to match who we are today.

Because of our historical bylaws, only Members in Northern California, Nevada, and Utah can cast a formal vote on this change. But please know this: We are taking this step for all of us. No matter where you live across our vast seven-state territory, you belong to a singular, cohesive organization that is entirely dedicated to you. This new name simply honors the full, diverse scope of the millions of Members we are so proud to serve.

For our Members in Northern California, Nevada, and Utah, I am personally asking you to help us reach our required voting threshold.

As the old proverb goes, “The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name.” It’s time we did that—together. Thank you for your Membership, your trust, and your partnership as we drive forward into our next great chapter.
