President's Letter: The Road Ahead in 2023

We’ll be right by your side when you need us most.

The new year is underway with lots of promise and more opportunities for you to safely hit the road and experience what you love about the West. As you prepare to do so, know that AAA is here to help should the need arise, especially when inclement weather hits.

In times like these, I am grateful for the efforts of our AAA roadside assistance professionals. They’re taking Member calls and out on the road 24/7 doing what it takes to help our Members—be it for a tow, a flat tire repair, a battery charge or replacement, or the delivery of emergency fuel. During the recent severe weather that gripped much of the West, our team responded to more than 500 roadside events per hour. The dedication of our road service professionals to be there when our Members need us most is the foundation on which AAA is built.

Given that winter is still with us, I’d encourage you to ensure your vehicles are prepared for slick roads and unexpected severe weather by taking them to one of our local AAA Auto Repair Centers or one of the 7,000 AAA Approved Auto Repair facilities nationwide. At AAA Auto Repair Centers, our ASE-Certified technicians are ready to assist with a wide range of repair and maintenance services, and—as always—Members receive 10 percent off labor cost and an extended 24-month/24,000-mile warranty on repairs.

Preparedness doesn’t just apply to the road, nor does it stop when you pull into your driveway. It continues with making sure you feel safe and secure at home, which is why several years ago we launched AAA Smart Home Security. We’re proud to offer you affordable, easy-to-use home security and automation systems installed by our own security experts and monitored 24/7. I feel it’s one of the best values in home security and automation, enhanced by the savings we offer AAA Members.

As you dive into this issue of Via, you’ll find it packed with a wide variety of vacation inspiration. Check out our feature 16 Road Trips to Take in 2023, broken down by season and featuring scenic routes in Northern California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska. Also, just in time for Valentine’s Day, we polled Members on their favorite romantic restaurants in the West. Did your favorite make the list?

No matter where the road of life takes you this year, AAA will be there when you need us most. Please continue to stay safe, stay healthy, and stay in touch.
