Many auto manufacturers provide roadside assistance to new car owners. Some even cover drivers who buy a certified preowned vehicle. If you have car trouble, you can call an 800 number to get emergency roadside assistance. Some automakers also provide an app or online form for requesting roadside help. When ordering roadside service, be prepared to provide information such as your location, your vehicle’s make and model, the VIN number, and your license plate number.Car manufacturers often provide roadside services for a set time. You might get service, for example, during your first four years of ownership or the first 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. The service period usually matches the car warranty. Once your roadside assistance expires, you may still be able to call for help if you’re willing to pay a service fee. Check your contract for details.
