Does AAA Roadside Assistance cover rental cars?

Yes. As a AAA Member, you can request roadside service for any vehicle that you’re in, whether you’re the driver or the passenger.

Do you tip AAA drivers?

Tipping roadside assistance drivers isn’t necessary.

How to track or check the status of AAA Roadside Assistance?

Members who have opted to receive SMS text messages will receive a link once a tow truck driver has been assigned. Upon opening the link, the Member will receive an estimated time of arrival, and can track the driver’s progress in real time.

Members who have not opted in to SMS texts will receive an automated phone call once a driver is on the way.

Can I schedule AAA Roadside Assistance?

AAA does not offer roadside assistance scheduling at this time, but it is under consideration.

Does AAA work out of state?

Yes, you can call AAA for Roadside Assistance from anywhere in the United States.

Does AAA roadside assistance work in Canada?

Yes, AAA Members are covered in Canada.

Does AAA roadside assistance work in Mexico?

AAA does not offer roadside service in Mexico at this time. Before driving in Mexico, however, you may want to purchase Mexico Driver’s Insurance.

Does AAA work in other countries?

Roadside services are available to AAA Members in Canada and many other parts of the world. Visit the website of the AAA-affiliated organization in the country you’re planning to visit for information about coverage and benefits.

Does AAA cover RVs and motorcycles?

AAA offers several plans that will keep your RV and/or motorcycle covered when you're on the road. These Membership plans vary by state.

Arizona

  • AAA Plus RV: Covers both RVs and motorcycles at the AAA Plus level of 100 miles of tow.
  • AAA Plus Motorcycle: Covers motorcycles only at the AAA Plus level of 100 miles of tow.

Utah

  • Plus RV: Covers both RVs and motorcycles at the AAA Plus level of 100 miles of tow.
  • Premier: Covers both RVs and motorcycles at the AAA Premier level of 200 miles of tow for one tow, and 100 miles of tow for remaining tows.

Northern California, Nevada, Alaska, Wyoming, and Montana

  • Premier: Covers both RVs and motorcycles at the AAA Premier level of 200 miles of tow for one tow, and 100 miles of tow for remaining tows.

Can I use my mom or dad’s AAA card?

Only the person named on the card can use their Membership. However, if you live in the same household or are away at school, your parents can add you as a family member on their AAA account with all the benefits at a discounted rate. As a family member on their account, you’ll be entitled to roadside assistance as well as other benefits, such as discounts on travel and entertainment.

Parents can add a family member to a Membership by doing the following:

  1. Sign in to your account using your AAA login (email address) and password.
  2. Click the “Add Someone to Your Plan” link from the Account Actions column.
  3. Enter your family member's first and last name and click “Continue to Payment.”
  4. Submit your payment information to add your family member to your account.

How much do you pay for roadside assistance per mile beyond the maximum?

It depends on your AAA Membership. AAA Classic Members get 5 miles of towing for your vehicle or bicycle, while AAA Plus Members receive 100 miles of towing and AAA Premier Members receive all the benefits of Plus Members plus one 200 mile tow per household per year.

After that, charges incur at the then-current rates of the Service Provider for that area, and must be paid to the Service Provider at the time of service. Although these charges vary by location, the following ranges generally apply:

  • Alaska: $5 to $10 per mile
  • Arizona: $5 to $6 per mile
  • California: $10 to $15 per mile
  • Montana: $5 to $10 per mile
  • Nevada: $5 to $10 per mile
  • Utah: $5 to $10 per mile
  • Wyoming: $5 to $10 per mile

What does AAA Motorcycle Roadside Assistance cover?

AAA Motorcycle Roadside Assistance provides emergency services like towing, fuel delivery, flat tire service, and much more.

Does AAA Insurance include roadside assistance?

No, but AAA Membership is required to purchase AAA Insurance. AAA Membership includes AAA Roadside Assistance that surpasses competition in customer satisfaction and arrival times. Plus save up to 5% on your AAA Insurance just for being a Member.
