AAA Membership is yearly.
AAA Membership plans have three levels:
- Provides 5 miles of towing per breakdown incident. Members are responsible for the payment of additional costs and expenses of tows that exceed 5 miles
- Up to $50 reimbursement for car locksmith services
- Fuel delivery
- Provides up to 100 miles of towing per breakdown incident
- Up to $100 reimbursement for car locksmith services
- Fuel and delivery
- Provides up to 200 miles of towing for one service call (per household); provides up to 100 miles of towing for three additional service calls
- Up to $150 reimbursement for car and home locksmith services
- Up to $50 reimbursement for windshield repair or replacement per Membership year

You can renew your membership up to 45 days prior to your membership expiration date. To renew your membership online:
- Log into your AAA.com account
- Click on the renew button
- Enter your credit/debit card information
- Submit your payment
If you are having issues with paying your renewal dues online or prefer to make your renewal payment over the phone, please call AAA Member Services at 1-800-922-8228.
To upgrade your Membership plan online, please follow these instructions:
- Log in to your online account using your email address and AAA online account password.
- Once logged in, click the "Change Your Membership Plan" link.
- Choose the new plan you wish to have, review the prorated charges for the remainder of your term, and provide your payment information.
If you are having difficulty completing this upgrade, please call AAA Member Services at 800-922-8228. Our representatives are available to serve you Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
AAA offers gift memberships, so you can give your loved ones security and peace of mind, with free towing, free fuel delivery, locksmith reimbursement, and all of the other perks of AAA Membership.
Associate Memberships are available to the loved ones of a primary AAA Member. By adding a family member, you can share your AAA benefits—including roadside assistance, discounts, and other benefits—for as little as $44.99 per year, depending on your plan and state.
To add a family member to your Membership:
- Sign in to your account using your AAA login (your email address) and password.
- After you’ve signed in to your AAA account page, click the “Add Someone to Your Membership” link from the Account Actions column.
- Enter your family member’s name, email address, Membership type (child or adult), and date of birth. Then click “Add This Member.”
- Check the information and confirm that it’s correct, then click “Continue to Payment.”
- Submit your payment information, and your family member is entitled to the same AAA benefits you receive.
While your AAA Membership doesn’t include your spouse, you can share the benefits you enjoy by adding your husband or wife to your Membership for as little as $44.99 per year, depending on your plan and location. Your spouse will be entitled to roadside assistance, just like you are, as well as such benefits as discounts at thousands of locations nationwide.
To add your spouse to your Membership:
- Sign in to your account using your AAA login (your email address) and password.
- After you've signed in to your AAA account page, click the "Add Someone to Your Membership" link from the Account Actions column.
- Enter your spouse's name, email address, Membership type (adult), and date of birth. Then click "Add This Member."
- Check the information and confirm that it's correct, then click "Continue to Payment."
- Submit your payment information, and your spouse will become a AAA Member.
No, AAA Membership is an individual product that offers roadside assistance and much more. You do not need AAA Insurance to become a Member, and your car can be insured by other insurance carriers. AAA Members do, however, save 5% on AAA Insurance.
AAA does not offer a military or senior discount on Membership at this time.
While AAA does not offer a student discount on Membership, a parent (or other family member) can add the student to his or her Membership, as long as they both share the same residential address. The family member can do this by purchasing an Associate Membership for the student at a discounted rate. The student will then enjoy the full range AAA Member benefits, from Emergency Road Assistance to travel discounts and more.
No, Costco does not sell AAA Memberships.
If you do need to cancel your AAA Membership, please call Member Services at 800-922-8228 and a representative can help you. Member Services is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. PST, and on the weekends from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. PST. (At the moment, Membership can’t be canceled online or via e-mail.)
Check with your accountant to find out if your AAA Membership is tax deductible. It may be tax deductible in certain cases, such as if you drive your vehicle for business.
At least one driver of the vehicle who's applying for coverage must be a AAA Member.
AAA Membership is not included with your AAA insurance purchase. However, AAA Members save 5% when they bundle auto and home insurance policies, which essentially pays your Membership fee.
The AAA Premier Membership plan has the most robust travel coverage, offering:
- $1,500 in trip interruption and delay coverage
- $500 in lost baggage coverage
- $300,000 in travel accident insurance (worldwide for trips booked through AAA)
- $25,000 in emergency medical transportation coverage
AAA Plus Members are entitled to:
- $750 in trip interruption and delay coverage
- $250 in lost baggage coverage
