Fall is an exciting time to start car shopping as the 2024 models, now in more limited supply, may come with discounts, and refreshed 2025 models start rolling out. There’s also the thrill of entirely new models, which hopefully showcase the latest and greatest that the automotive industry has to offer. Given the ongoing shift towards electric vehicles, it’s no surprise they dominate this year’s new releases, along with a strong showing of SUVs and hybrids. Here are five new cars set to hit the market for 2025.

Kia K4

MSRP starting at $21,990

The brand-new Kia K4—not to be confused with the midsize K5 sedan—is replacing the entry-level Forte for the 2025 model year. It boasts a sleeker geometric design that’s both slightly wider and longer. This compact has much to offer for budget-conscious buyers looking for the latest technology and safety features. There’s upgraded safety features in the GT-Line, including automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, and adaptive cruise control. The 30-inch multi-screen display integrates climate control options, the infotainment system, and the instrument panel.

The many upgrade features make this an attractive choice for a small sedan, especially given the shrinking options in this category. You can add on heated and cooled seats, a swanky sound system from Harman Kardon, a large sunroof, and more.

The available “Hey, Kia AI” assistant allows you to change the temperature and other settings without clicking around, and it offers conversational updates about sports, stocks, and more. If you find yourself forgetting or losing your car key, you’ll find the digital key particularly useful as it allows you to unlock and start your car with your phone. You can even send the digital key to friends or family when needed, skipping the need for a physical key hand off altogether.

Mazda CX-50 Hybrid

MSRP starting at $33,970

While first offered in 2023, the Mazda CX-50 will have a Toyota hybrid option for the first time in the 2025 model year. The CX-50 Hybrid offers a combined EPA-estimated 38 miles per gallon (mpg), 10 mpg more than the non-hybrid combined average. With more comfortable seating than many in its class and excellent handling, the hybrid CX-50 is available in three trim levels, complete with standard all-wheel drive.

The hybrid SUV comes with many standard safety features, including rear seat alert, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, and lane departure warning.

Mazda made subtle tweaks to styling for the hybrid trims, including different wheels and bumper position. There’s also exclusive red leather upholstery available. All hybrid trim levels also include hands-free Alexa for voice commands, heated front seats, heated side mirrors and wiper blades, and wireless phone charging, among the standard comfort features.

Toyota Crown Signia Hybrid

MSRP starting at $43,590

Toyota has reimagined its Crown sedan into the Crown Signia, a distinct mashup of station wagon and SUV. The new iteration retains the Crown sedan’s premium feel and plush interior, while offering a more spacious design, thanks to a raised roof and hatchback trunk space with fold-flat seats.

Offered exclusively as a hybrid, it delivers 38 miles per gallon (combined), with standard all-wheel drive and a 2700-pound towing capacity. The Crown Signia’s fixed panoramic roof, which is available as an add-on, stretches across most of the vehicle. The front seats are heated and ventilated, while the vehicle also comes standard with heated rear seats.

Toyota has equipped the Crown Signia with a host of safety features, including blind spot monitoring, automatic forward braking, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control. Optional safety features are available as an add-on for those who purchase the limited trim.

Between the premium interior and comfortable ride, the Crown Signia certainly has a more luxurious feel than might be expected from Toyota’s reliable workhorse reputation.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz

MSRP starting at $59,995

One of the more quirky vehicle releases expected in late 2024 is Volkswagen’s homage to its iconic Microbus. While much about the eagerly expected vehicle is still yet to be released, this re-imagination of the two-tone bus is fully electric. (Its range is currently unavailable.)

The three-row ID.Buzz will come with six or seven-seat configurations and automatic sliding doors, which may make it an attractive option for both minivan and three-row SUV shoppers. It’s expected to be available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, with heated washer fluid nozzles, steering wheel, and windshield available.

The large Volkswagen emblem on the front of the bus lights up, and ambient interior lighting is expected to have multiple color options for a fun twist. For buyers looking for a roomy vehicle for a large family, transporting equipment, or just want to drive something a little different, this could be a tempting choice once all the details have been released.

Volvo EX90

MSRP starting at $79,995

Volvo’s new three-row SUV is all-electric, with seating for seven and an expected 308-mile range. It features an upscale, more environmentally conscious wool blend interior. Complete with a large “tablet,” for lack of a better word, as the infotainment system, the only manual control is in front of the center cupholders. Little touches like headlights that turn on when you walk up to the car, flush door handles, hidden lighting, and integrated front seat massage (Ultra-only) add to the minimalistic charm.

As you might expect from a luxury vehicle, the EX90 is chock full of safety features. It utilizes five radar systems, 16 ultrasonic sensors, and eight cameras that work with the lidar sensor. Inside the vehicle, two cameras track the driver’s eyes to ensure they’re alert. If the driver doesn’t respond to its warnings, the car may pull over and call for emergency assistance.

The EX90 offers bidirectional charging, so you can use it as a power source in the event of a power outage. However, bidirectional charging, along with a host of other safety and comfort features, are delayed and will be activated after vehicle delivery through over-the-air updates.

Scheduled maintenance is included with your purchase, lasting up to three years or 36,000 miles, but given the electric nature of the vehicle, it requires minimal maintenance to begin with.
