President’s Letter: Celebrating 125 Years of Member Service

From maps and insurance to our new all-electric tow fleet, AAA keeps evolving.

On March 7, 1900, a small group of pioneering automobile enthusiasts founded the Automobile Club of San Francisco. Their purpose was simple: to promote the automobile and protect motorists. That original Automobile Club, and many others like it, has evolved into today’s AAA, an association that serves millions of Members across Alaska, Arizona, Montana, Nevada, Northern California, Utah, Wyoming, and beyond.

Throughout its 125-year history, AAA built the first roads, created driver maps, established emergency roadside services, introduced auto insurance, instituted motor vehicle departments, and influenced traffic safety laws. But we didn’t stop there. We expanded our offerings to include many other products and services that benefit our Members, such as hotel and restaurant reviews, travel planning, auto repair, financial solutions, and home security.

As we celebrate this milestone jubilee, I reflect on the trust and loyalty you’ve shown us—support that is truly priceless. Looking to the future, I’m excited to see the continued evolution of safe mobility and dream of new possibilities to transform the services we provide.

That transformation is already underway in our all-electric tow fleet. This initiative—currently in its early pilot phase—features mobile charging vans for electric vehicles and the nation’s first all-electric flatbed tow trucks. With every tow, we’re not just moving vehicles; we’re driving toward a sustainable future.

Your continued AAA Membership helps shape our legacy. Your trust inspires us to build on our tradition of service and excellence. Together, we’ll navigate the road ahead, guided by the principles of our early founders: safety over speed, people over profit, and excellent services—everywhere, every time.

Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to 125 more years of innovation, safety, and unforgettable journeys!

Driving forward with gratitude and optimism,

Marshall L. Doney
