As a longtime travel editor at Sunset Magazine, he’s journeyed to almost every corner of the West, from Hatch, New Mexico to Glendive, Montana to Alaska’s Yukon River Delta. At Sunset, his journalism earned him a Lowell Thomas Travel Writing Award. Currently, he writes for the San Francisco Chronicle, Alta, Coastal Living, Via, and other publications. He also teaches travel and nature writing for Stanford University’s Continuing Studies program.
